Yesterday, the U13 girls team took part in a tournament run by the Huddersfield Town Community Team at Moor End High School. After a nervy 0-0 opening draw against Batley Girls school, they went on to win the next two games, easily beating Brooksbank 2-0 and and then Moor End 4-1. The final two fixtures in the group stages were much more difficult. Eventual winners, Ryburn, beat the girls 7-0 and a 3-0 loss to Colne Valley ‘A’ followed. This however ensured they reached the quarter finals in which they beat Colne Valley ‘B’ team on penalties with two great saves from Zara. Luck finally ran out in the semi-final though and despite a great performance they were defeated by a strong All Saints side. A great day was had by the girls, they were a credit to the school, and it will be interesting to see how they perform later in the year.
