Re: School becoming cashless from Monday 29th April 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

As mentioned in the Winter Newsletter, Scissett Middle School will be going cashless from Monday 29th April 2019.

The school kitchen already operates a cashless system and 97% of our parents/carers use ParentPay to make payments for school meals, trips and other items.

This means we will no longer be taking any cash payments in school, apart from the charity dress differently days where pupils pay £1. The ParentPay system allows you to make payments for any school activities such as trips, clubs, books, lockers, etc. We will also be adding some school uniform items, such as ties, in the future. Payments can be made either by using a secure website or Pay Point facility at your local newsagent.

The administration staff have spent an immeasurable amount of valuable time on collecting and keeping track of what payments have been received for the numerous events that take place. This, combined with the burden that you may endure in either finding the correct change or writing a cheque to pay for your child’s activities can at times be frustrating.

What do you need to do now?

Already using ParentPay

If you already have a ParentPay account, you can continue to pay for items as usual.

New to ParentPay?

You will have a secure online account, activated using a unique activation username and password; you will be prompted to change these and to keep them safe and secure as your Username and Password for future logins. The activation letters have been sent out previously but please contact the school office if you need a copy.

If you have two or more children at a ParentPay school, you only need to activate one account to create your ‘main account’ and then add your other children via the Add a child tab on your home page.

Please visit www.parentpay.com and activate your account via the Account login area on the home page of the site.

ParentPay holds an electronic record of your payments to view at a later date. Once you have activated your account you can make online payments straight away.

Those parents wishing to pay cash can request a barcode letter from the school office which you can take to your local PayPoint store to make payment. Please note that you will need a barcode letter for every different payment item. If you are able to use the online system this would be much easier for you.

The local PayPoint stores are as follows:

Clayton Village Stores, 11 High St, Clayton West, Huddersfield HD8 9PD.
Skelmanthorpe Co-op, 38 Commercial Rd, Skelmanthorpe, Huddersfield HD8 9DA.

If you need any support in using ParentPay please contact the school office for advice and guidance.

We will send out further reminders as we get nearer to the 29th April 2019.

Yours sincerely
